The old NEWSPAPER ARTICLES for which links are given below were provided to me by Derry Dubetsky.  Derry is a member of the Beacon Historical Society and an avid Civil War enthusiast -- and he's also my cousin!

The Overseer of the Poor for Fishkill Landing Hawks was Samuel Hawks - Civil War Veteran 56th Regiment, NY Vol.- Civil War Soldier and member and former commander of Howland GAR Post 48, Dept. of New York.

[Note:  Samuel Hawks was my first cousin twice removed and Derry's second cousin three times removed.  Derry's and my common Ancestor was Jotham Hawks - Rev. War Patriot.]

Dutchess County Alms/Poorhouse Records indicate that Robert "died March 5, 1894.
[VAB Research August 1, 2003.]

I am informed that this GAR Post did not own a Veterans Plot until abt.1898 I am fairly certain that Robert is buried in the Alms/Poorhouse Cemetery. I will do my best to insure that when the time comes and his number is found that an appropriate Veteran's Marker is erected and dedicated!

Cousin Derry will help me out with this aspect.
